At the end of the research project (37,5EC), the student has learned to:
  • can apply an appropriate set of experimental or computational techniques
  • can handle, analyse and interpret data in a correct manner and link them to scientific theories
  • is able to evaluate his/her own learning and development process and to adjust this process if necessary
  • demonstrates a professional working attitude (able to solve tasks by him/herself)
  • performs research under limited supervision and take initiatives where necessary
  • is able to indicate the relevance of his/her research in the field of nanomaterials science and to reflect critically upon his/her own contribution
  • is able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and participate critically and constructively in the scientific debate in the research group
  • is able to discuss, in spoken and written English, the complete and final results of research, including the underlying knowledge and background, to a target group
In addition the honours degree the student has learned to (either one of the following two options of 7,5 EC):
  • writing of a PhD proposal of a topic to be freely chosen by the honours student. This proposal is eligible to compete in the Debye Graduate Programme.
  • writing a research paper as a first author for an international peer-reviewed journal using the results of the master research project or the internship project, ready up to the level of submission.

The total honours research project is hence 37,5 + 7,5 = 45 EC
