At the end of the internship, the student
- Can translate a problem in an industrial setting or research institutional setting into a relevant question
- Has designed a suitable research plan and finalizes the research and its report timely according to plan
- Performs research under limited supervision
- Can apply an appropriate set of experimental or computational techniques
- Can handle, analyse and interpret data in a correct manner
- Is able to indicate the relevance of his/her research in the field of nanomaterials science and to reflect critically upon his/her own contribution
- Is able to work effectively in a international multidisciplinary R&D setting or another dutch/international research institutional setting and act according to their internal rules
- Is able to discuss, in spoken and written English, the results of research, including the underlying knowledge and background, to a target group

The student needs to find a suitable project in or outside the Netherlands, within a research institute or company, that is related to research that can be supervised by a member of the Debye Institute of Nanomaterials Science.
