Inhoud
This multidisciplinary research seminar is designed to provide students with an awareness of the nature, purpose, and functioning of salient production systems (“institutions”) of cultural commodities/objects and services/performances. The seminar provides members with a cutting-edge, dynamic matrix that will allow them to comprehend cultural production in a transdisciplinary manner within the context of the humanities in general, and their chosen field of study in particular. To this end, the course begins by introducing different theoretical frameworks that will be tested and refined by jointly examining four case studies. Though the case studies focus on institutions which interact with sound- or music-related cultural products, from symphony orchestras to museums to the law, students from other fields are welcome to apply the perspectives gained to their own expertise.

Career orientation:
Training in written and oral presentation of research.

Entrance requirements:
This course is for students in the RMA Musicology Art History, NLC and MAPS. The ability to read music notation is not required. Entrance requirements for Exchange Students will be checked by International Office and the programme coordinator. You do not need to contact the programme coordinator yourself.
