Course goals
Students are able to:
•          Define internationalization at home and explain its relevance within education
•          Research, analyze and evaluate case studies and projects regarding citizenship education, in which educators used learning materials and tools to enhance internationalization & world citizenship at home.
•          Design a well-structured project plan for a virtual exchange project for a secondary school
•          Reflect on the use of a virtual exchange project in their classroom and how they want to use it in your future teaching
 
Content
In this course students will develop an understanding of the relevance and importance of internationalization at home in secondary school curriculum. Main themes are world citizenship, virtual exchange and eTwinning. Students will learn about innovative tools to help internationalize the curriculum and how to work with those tools in an international and/or diverse classroom, which results in an educational design for internationalization at home.

Assessment
Students will write a portfolio which includes the following components
 
  1. Define internationalization at home, explain its relevance within education and your own vision
Portfolio, assignment 1 (20%)
2.  Research, analyze and evaluate case studies and projects, in which educators used learning material and tools to enhance internationalization at home Portfolio, assignment 2 (20%)
3. Write a well-structured project plan for a virtual exchange project for a secondary school. As part of this plan, design one well-structured lesson plan using suitable learning materials and ict tools in order to enhance internationalization at home. Present the project plan to fellow students and in doing so define the lesson learning goals and explain and justify the relevance of the choices made in designing the plan.
 
Portfolio, assignment 3 (60%)
4. Reflect on the use of a virtual exchange project in your classroom and how you want to use it in your future teaching Portfolio, assignment 4 (0%): part of the Uteach biography (pass/fail, formative). Assignment 4 needs to be a pass to get full credits for this course*.

* Assignment 4 will be assessed in the Uteach biography. The Uteach biography includes reflections on all the Uteach electives: the reflection on how to internationalize your classroom (1a)  reflection on CLIL (1b),  reflection on ICE (1c).
