Environmental Epidemiology

Course goals
After completing the course the student:
  1. knows the epidemiological designs that are often used in environmental and occupational epidemiology and less in other applications of (clinical) epidemiology;
  2. is acquainted with new designs for environmental exposure assessment;
  3. knows the impact of measurement error in exposure on effect estimates;
  4. is able to perform specific epidemiological analyses.

This course is provided twice per year:

For Epidemiology Online there is an Online edition from 19 February 2024 - 6 April 2024 (please register for BMS_P3_B, via the MSc Epidemiology platform, or contact the course coordinator).
For other students there is a Face-2-Face edition from 26 June 2024 - 7 July 2024 (Please register from BMS_P4_A via OSIRIS Student).

Course description:
The objective of the course is to provide the student with insight in the principles and important issues of environmental and occupational epidemiology. There will be a limited number of lectures in this course. Papers have been selected that we expect you to read carefully as they will be used in subsequent computer exercises and discussions. Problems can further be discussed with the instructors, preferably plenary. You are expect to be present at all scheduled plenary sessions

Maximum number of participants is 25 students.

Registration only open to Health and Environment students who will automatically be enrolled and MSc Epidemiology students with the specialisation Environmental Epidemiology who can register by contacting the course coordinator.
