Course goals
At the end of the course, students should have a profound understanding of:
-              the main developments within and concepts that inform Bio-Inspired Research and Design
-              Bio-inspired research and design methods: you will participate in teams in the Biomimicry Design Challenge
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
-              interpret the outcomes of its own research or design concerning the potential contribution it delivers to the creation of a sustainable circular economy and society.
-              reflect on their role and actions as part of a researchand/or design process.
-              to connect  literature from different disciplines to a scientifically formulated problem. (multidisciplinarity)
To communicate research and /or design results to a wider()non-scientific) audience in a comprehensible manner.
-              to recognize its own role in a group process and, if needed, to adapt to changing circumstances
-              to receive and give feedback.
Content
This course consists of 6 units divided into 2 parts.
 
Part 1, the units are:
1. Navigation towards personal excellence (competence/personality development)
2. Theory and Philosophy
3. Footprinting
4. Participation in Biomimicry design Challenge
 
Part 2, the units are:
5. Life cycle analysis
6. Business Canvas modelling
 
The first three units will be taught after you have completed the mandatory GSLS Introduction.
The last two units will be held in February/March and it will help you to reflect to what extend your major research project contains Biomimetic elements.
