The game design minor is a special minor for game technology students who want to learn more about the design aspects of games, as opposed to the technology side.

Most of this minor will be taught at the HKU school of the arts in Utrecht.

The minor consists of several courses and projects on game design, partially corresponding to the second year curriculum of the HKU programme on Game Design & Development.

In most courses the students will be collaborating with HKU students, which will provide them with valuable experience to create games in an interdisciplinary team and valuable connections to start a game development career.

The minor is developed by expert game designers, developers, and interaction-design specialist at the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU).

Courses are project based, with a focus on the creative process and product realization -- not on theory.

You can earn 30 EC, and the minor is 1 semester (Sept-Jan) and requires full-time attendance.

Disciplines covered at HKU Games and Interaction are: Game Art, Game Design, Game Development, and Interaction Design.

Core modules of the minor are: Module Game Design 1 & 2, and two interdisciplinary projects.

Choice modules of the minor are: Game Design, Interface Design, Behavioural Science, Gamify, Sound-Games-and-Interaction, Experimental Making, New Technologies, and Applied Game Design.
