Inhoud
Only open for students in the RMA Media, Art & Performance Studies.

In recent years an increasing amount of born-digital and digitized data have become newly available, offering rich opportunities for research with (new) computational tools. As Humanities scholars we need to raise questions about the role and influence of computational tools on the research process, the results and their presentation. In this course, students will critically investigate the role of computational tools for doing research in Media, Art and Performance Studies. In short, they will learn to conduct what is called tool criticism. Tool criticism raises questions about computational methodology, and it is an integral reflexive practice interwoven in the academic processes.
