At the end of this course, the successful participant will be able to:
(1) translate a medieval Welsh prose text of moderate to high difficulty;
(2) explain important grammatical concepts relating to medieval Welsh grammar
(3) comprehend and explain important concepts and themes from medieval Welsh literature
(4) analyze a medieval Welsh poem with regard to metre and alliterative patterns
(5) summarize an academic article on the theme of the course, and make a presentation to the class
(6) effectively use electronic resources for locating relevant primary and secondary literature

In this course, medieval Welsh prose and poetic texts will be used to improve and increase translating skills and grammatical knowledge acquired in Middle Welsh 1.
Furthermore, there will be a focus on literary analysis and the recognition of themes and motifs in medieval Welsh literature, and an introduction to metre and forms of alliteration used in Welsh medieval poetry.
