Veterinarians who have completed the track One health within one of the animal specific program (major) are equipped with knowledge and skills which make them pre-eminently fit to function in the sector of veterinary medicine where the interplay between animals, their owners, society, the environment and the economy is leading.

The MSc Veterinary Medicine track One Health will educate Veterinary BSc graduates to become veterinarian with extensive knowledge on One Health principles. A maximum of 25 students will be admitted annually. The One Health track will consist of a course based education period of 20 weeks and an internship of 20 weeks. Topics addressed are risk assessment, risk management and risk communication. The course based education period will be divided in a compulsory core program (10 weeks) and an elective program (10 weeks). Courses will identified by a “Track One Health Education Committee” the TOC OH. A student should provide the TOC OH an individual education program consisting of the compulsory core program, an elective course program and a internship based program. These programs will be reviewed by the TOC OH and must be approved by the TOC OH.The internship should fit within the total individual student’s education plan. In the internship period students should perform a research assignment of at least 12 weeks. International internships are encouraged.
In the remaining weeks of the internship period, One Health subjects related to the internship e.g. disaster preparedness and actions, food quality assurance systems will be studied by the students. Subjects and education goals to be met, for this period should be provided by the students in the individual education program (see above). A list of selected preferred partners for internships will be provided by the TOC OH. Every preferred partner will have a contact person at the Veterinary Faculty in Utrecht. Specific selection criteria for specific internships can exist. If the latter is the case, selection procedures for application will be provided. Part of the track One Health will be writing a Master Thesis.
Let op: Bij afstudeerrichting Paard duurt de track twee weken korter dan bij de afstudeerrichtingen Landbouwhuisdieren en Gezelschapsdieren, daarom krijg je bij afronding 3 EC minder toegekend.
