GoalsIn this module a systematic
treatment of different usability methods in terms of their reliability and
validity will be given. Questions addressed are: how certain are the results
(the detected problems) found with existing methods, and how serious are the
detected problems? Attention will be paid to at what moment in the design process
which evaluation technique or method can be used. Furthermore an extension will
be made to web-based applications as well as collaborative work systems (CSCW)
and e-learning systems. What are on these domains reliable and valid methods of
usability evaluation? We also will pay attention to the extraction of
requirements of new systems by means of analysis of verbal protocols. An
extension of theoretical as well as of practical knowledge on the area of
usability engineering will be provided. Students will get hands-on experience
with usability registration software by working with the software available in
the Usability Lab of CKE.
